• Album Information:
Year 5 have been learing the techniques involved in the sport of fencing. It is a very disciplined sport with participants having to take turns to attack - you have to defend or avoid being hit, if your opponent attacks first.
They have learnt how too move when fencing and two attacks - the parry and the thrust.
In the pictures the children are taking part in a one hit fencing match. A hit is scored when the foil strikes inside the stitched area of the vest.
The children without the kit are the referees, who spot which fencer attacks first and whether the hit is on or off target.
